BanJam

Reviving, reclaiming, and recognizing the contribution to roots music that the ringing sounds of the banjo create, and combined with the sweet voices of African American children a new music program has been created.

Banjam, a collaboration of BASEArizona AfroScouts, Jam Pak Blues ā€˜Nā€™ Grass Neighborhood, and the International Bluegrass Music Association Foundation, has birthed this extraordinary group. Meeting weekly at the Jam Pak home, this home-based program is creating a new music community.

Coached by Giselle Lee and Danielle (Lucy) Tanyi on banjo, and Joelle Tambe-Ebot on upright bass, the group is learning to play and sing bluegrass and old-time music.
